In ”Faculty Research Awards 2018” event organized by ‘Career360’ and attended by dignitaries of education system of India, awards were presented to 40-45 most influential researchers. The ”Most Outstanding Researcher Award” in the field of Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology was presented to Professor Ashok Pandey by Honorable HRD Minister of Govt. of India, Shri Prakash Javadekar. The other notable researcher selected for ‘Faculty Research Award’ in field of Environmental Sciences is Prof. S. Venkata Mohan. The award includes Rs. 50,000 and a citation to each shortlisted outstanding researcher in the 24 study disciplines.
The event was kickstarted with roundtable discussion, moderated by Sanjay Modi (MD APAC & Middle East of Monster.com) on education system in India, role of private colleges in education, role of teachers etc. The event then felt rejuvenated after the entry of Prakash Javadekar who by his great sense of humor attracted attention and affection of every person in the event (speech of Prakash Javadekar on youtube). The stage and mic was shared by Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE and many other decision makers.
The awardees were selected after following a stringent process of filtering profiles of high profile researchers. This include academic output score, h-index, citation count and then postal ballot by top academicians of India. Following this, around 40-45 faculty/researchers out of total 254 were selected and 21 of them received Rs. 50,000 and citation whereas remaining ones got citations. Career360, the organizers of award function is a premiere education advisory company and nearly 60-80 lakh students use this portal every month for career guidance.
Professor Ashok Pandey is Distinguished Scientist in CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, his career spans 31 years in NIIST, Thiruvanathapuram doing research on Biofuels and enzymes. Prof Prof Venkata Mohan S is Principal Scientist of Department of Bioengineering and Environmental Sciences (BEES), CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad- India.
Professor Pandey and Professor Venkata Mohan are members of Editorial Board of Biotech Express magazine.
